Salento, Italy- Zenit Hotel Salento in Lecce

The beautiful coast of Salento

Salento's beaches and events: Discover them with Zenit Salento

The Salentinian coast is characterised by long sandy shores and stretches of cliffs: Starting from Torre Chianca, free small beaches with crystal clear water appear one after another, such as the desirable locations of San Foca and Torre dell'Orso, as far as Otranto, where the rocks which make the landscape more characteristic appear.

Further south, we find low cliffs and a wonderful rocky coast with stacks and different caves. Castro, Tricase and Gagliano del Capo come one after the other, to finally arrive at the boot's heel: Santa Maria di Leuca, a well-known tourist location rich in cliffs and coves.

Santa Maria di Leuca offers a very attractive landscape, high and ragged coast, where the sea laps against the hundreds of cavities hidden in the rocks, where bays and fjords offer shelter for the boats. This tranquil bathing resort offers every comfort for a dream holiday in the name of relaxation and fun.

The stretch of coast from Otranto to Santa Maria di Leuca is considered one of the most beautiful and evocative in the whole of Puglia, for the extraordinarily clear sea which has an exceptional colour, and for the cliffs which fall sheer into the sea: this is a coast which charms with its spectacular nature. But the coast from Leuca to Gallipoli isn't exactly less beautiful, it is flat with low rocky promontories alternated with dunes and beaches.

On the Ionic coast we should remember Ugento, with golden sandy beaches, Porto Cesareo, another location very much attended by bathing tourists, and Gallipoli, with sandy beaches which are also rich with vegetation. In Gallipoli you're stricken by its atmosphere and the characteristic division of the city in two well-defined areas: the old city and the new district. The centre of Gallipoli could be considered as one of the most flourishing tourist territories in the whole of Salento.

In this itinerary among Salento's marine beauties, we cannot forget Santa Cesarea Terme, around 6 km away from Porto Badisco. It's known especially because of the quality of its thermal waters, the elegance of the city makes it a desirable tourist destination. Santa Cesarea's thermal waters spring from four caves within short distance of each other and they're particularly renowned for skin and joint care.
